Featured Exhibitions:

Gerry Frost, David Storey, and Felipe Reyes (Jan. 1977)

This exhibit featured work from Gerry Frost, David Storey, and Felipe Reyes who were all art professors at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Robert Tiemann offers a critique of the show in the January 27, 1977 edition of the San Antonio Express, acknowledging Felipe Reyes’ artistic evolution.

“Reyes’ paintings formerly dealt with Chicano subject matter. This present concern will not bring as much easy attention but offers the greater possibility for doing significant paintings and fifteen watercolors.” - Robert Tiemann

Installations by Ronaldo BriseñoThree Rooms by David Elizondo (Aug. 5 - 28, 1977)

In this joint exhibition, former Con Safo member Ronaldo Briseño and Trinity alumnus David Elizondo showed their conceptual works. Elizondo filled three small rooms with works painted on discarded, everyday items and Briseño exhibited black paper shapes attached to the walls, floor, and ceiling of the gallery.

David Elizondo was still a student at Trinity during this exhibit, and was introduced to SAMOMA by Robert Tiemann.

“But basically I spent all my time in the arts scene, in the art world. Tiemann recommended me to SAMOMA. And I talked to Don Evans about that…[a]nd ever since then, I've known Norman [Avila].” - David Elizondo
