David Elizondo
David A. Elizondo is a multi-media Chicano artist living in San Antonio, TX who graduated from Trinity University with a B.A. in Art in December 1978 and an M.A. in Urban Studies in 1986. Elizondo’s work is mostly abstract and conceptual, experimenting with a wide range of media including painting, sculpture, film, writing, performance, and music.
Elizondo was raised in both San Antonio and Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. After high school, Elizondo served in the Navy from 1971-1975. During his time at Trinity, Elizondo had various exhibits at Trinity University in the Ruth Taylor Foyer and Laurie Auditorium. As a student Elizondo also exhibited his art in the broader San Antonio community with shows at the San Antonio Museum of Modern Art and the Jardin de Arte Gallery. After graduating with his B.A., Elizondo traveled and showed his works in New York, Amsterdam, Hawaii, and Monterrey. Elizondo returned to Trinity in 1983 to begin his work on his M.A. in Urban Studies.
Elizondo has continued creating and performing in San Antonio. In 2024, he donated his collection of his artwork, flyers, photographs, collages, zines, music, videos, and photographic slides to the Trinity University Special Collections and Archives.
