Surface Collections of 2022-2024

Beginning in the spring of 2022, a small independent study was formed after a few artifacts were discovered in the creek bed that runs through the site. These finds consisted of glass fragments, a cement floor tile, a metal button, and pottery fragments from varying vessels. Over four semesters, we have recovered thousands of artifacts through surface collections. The artifacts found consist primarily of fragmented materials, with glass and pottery being the most frequently found types. However, objects such as fragmented animal bones, metal, concrete, and fresh water oyster shells have commonly been recovered as well.
