Social Research
The second area of research conducted by the TRC is the social status of Hispanic populations. Researching their status in the state of Texas, and San Antonio, and recommendations for improving their positions, and how lawmakers can assist with this goal. Dr. Madrid discusses how the stereotype of how Hipsanic populations are inactive is incorrect and offers his opinion on the subject.
The two following are covers of publications related to the topic of Hispanic political involvement and influence.
One area of interest for Dr. Madrid was the topic of “colonias” which are unincorporated areas where large populations live in harsh conditions; no running water, no electric grid, and the problem was not only their existence, but their increasing size.
