Trinity External Connections
Bilingual education at Trinity grew not only from theory but also from direct engagement with local communities. These partnerships helped create a unique structure, which, although reflective of the community's current needs, meant that most programs lacked longevity, institution-wide support, and funding.
This section of the exhibit introduces the university's four main collaborations with:
1. The Good Samaritan Center
2. Learning about Learning
3. Sunshine Cottage
4. Teacher Corps Model Program with Edgewood ISD and San Antonio ISD
These programs, along with the Bilingual Studies Program, helped to ground Trinity's educational mission in the realities of language learners in San Antonio during the 1960s-1980s.
